Salary: Leadership L3-L6 £54,394 - £58,569 (This will be paid pro-rata to reflect hours and weeks worked) 

Working pattern: This is a fixed term parental leave cover position working 1.0 FTE until 31st August 2027 (Monday to Friday)

South Molton Community Primary School is seeking to appoint an inspiring and committed Assistant Headteacher to join our leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity for an inspiring leader who is passionate about school improvement and making a positive difference to the lives of children.

About the Role

As Assistant Headteacher, you will play a key role in supporting the Headteacher and senior leadership team in driving forward the school’s vision, values and strategic priorities. You will contribute to the leadership and management of the school, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning and pupil outcomes.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the school
  • Leading on designated areas of whole‑school improvement, in line with the school development plan
  • Contributing to the monitoring and evaluation of teaching and learning
  • Supporting staff development, coaching and performance management
  • Promoting a positive, inclusive and aspirational school culture
  • Acting as a safeguarding leader, ensuring the welfare and safety of pupils at all times

The Successful Candidate will:

  • Be an excellent classroom practitioner with a proven track record of raising standards
  • Have experience of leadership at middle or senior level within a primary school
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Be able to motivate, inspire and support colleagues
  • Have a clear understanding of safeguarding and inclusion
  • Share our commitment to improving outcomes for all children
